Shelter Diversion Training
September 5, 2018, 2:00 PM - 3:15 PM
Cleveland Mediation Center
Shelter diversion is a client-centered, conflict resolution approach that prevents homelessness for people seeking shelter by identifying immediate alternate housing.
This workshop will review successful strategies for identifying families and individuals that can be prevented or diverted from entering shelter, how to serve them effectively and how to integrate prevention and diversion with coordinated assessment.
Diversion programs can reduce the number of families becoming homeless, the demand for shelter beds and the size of program wait lists. Attendees will leave this workshop with an understanding of shelter diversion the steps needed to implement a program in their area.
Cleveland Mediation Center has trained more than 30 communities across the country in shelter diversion since 2014.
