Reframing Housing: Applying Communications Science to Advocacy Challenges - Half-Day Session!
September 5, 2018, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Jessica Moyer, Frameworks Institute
The task of developing a communications strategy doesn’t need to be a guessing game. Advocates and practitioners working to engage the public are faced with constant questions about what to say, or not say, as well as when and how to say it — and the FrameWorks Institute uses rigorous social science to arrive at answers.
Join us for a presentation of findings about how the American public currently understands the issue of housing, including common assumptions and associations that impede support for needed polices and stall progressive social change.
The second half of our session will focus on strategically designed communications tools, which have been tested and proven to fill critical gaps in public understanding and shift attitudes in productive ways. Participants will have opportunities to practice using select tools and will leave with a shared strategy for framing communications more effectively across the housing field.
