The Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP) designation is the most widely recognized designation in the LIHTC housing industry.
A vital step in becoming an HCCP is passing the challenging exam, developed and sponsored by the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB).
The exam is proctored over 2.5 hours and is a multiple-choice exam format. You must answer at least 49 of the 75 questions correctly to pass.
Industry experience is key for success in passing the exam. The Tax Credit Compliance Training that is repeated Wednesday and Thursday of the conference will provide a refresher on key topic areas on the exam.
Requirements for achieving the HCCP designation:
Successful completion of the HCCP Exam ($175 fee)
Minimum of two years' experience in the LIHTC industry
A total of 10 hours of LIHTC training
Adherence to the HCCP Code of Ethics
Maintaining the HCCP Designation
Four hours of LIHTC-related continuing education is required annually.
Designees are not required to send in proof of CE earned at time of renewal.
Annual renewal fee of $175 for NAHB members or $235 for non-members
