Cultural Humility as Harm Reduction is a position one takes to self-reflect and assess ways of how they unintentionally inflict harm on an individual during the helping process and move towards a mindset and responsiveness that is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, equitable, and inclusive. Attendees will learn about the nuances of microaggressions, implicit bias, white fragility and privilege and how they show up in creating barriers for engagement when working with vulnerable populations. When helpers recognize when these things are activated and practice cultural humility, they will reduce harm in the helping process.
