Public Housing Agencies (PHAs) can be a critical component of community efforts to end homelessness – especially when strong partnerships are forged directly with homeless service agencies. This session will highlight several partnerships between PHAs and homeless service agencies around the state that have been successful in prioritizing assistance for homeless Iowans and leveraging resources and expertise from both organizations. By using the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) programs strategically, in collaboration with homeless service agencies, PHAs can provide long-term subsidies that keep people from cycling back to emergency shelters or the street, helping their communities reduce and ultimately end homelessness.
